The beautiful and very talented Mona Durmer might be successful, but the contradictions of love treat her just the same as any other woman in love with a man that belongs to another woman. Mona goes through self-confliction and double standards as she holds on to her lover Donte who has his own drama and double standards he is trying to conquer and make decisions to. Mona faces judgment from her friends and more so from herself that she battles how to handle. Money might can buy her the finer things in life, but she seeks love from a man that has her heart and that can’t be bought. What is she to do when everybody seems to be putting in their input, but really have no room for judgment their selves? I guess that just proves how people can be trifling and full of double standards. Preaching one thing, but doing no better.

One was an "oh s***!" moment. The other was the ending was very much lacking. A real reader wants to be surprised. We want something to hit us out of nowhere. The ending was pretty much a blah. Without these two things in the story, this story was pretty much the average everyday hood love story. But this author is seriously on to something. Once she gets strong in these two areas, she will be a force to be reckoned with!

Mona seemed a bit weak minded to me when it came to Donte, even downright to the end. Love will have you like that sometimes. I thought it was funny how Monas friend talked all that noise about her situation and she ended up doing the same thing. There were some grammatical errors, but overall, this was a nice, quick read. Would read part two if its available.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Interesting Story By LaTanya Garry Great short story. Mona sound's like a woman with good qualities but yet she seemed a bit naïve and doubtful about her own self worth and self love while trying to juggle her feelings for Donte. Lynn was a wreck.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Book Review by Queue By PrismBookAlliance 4 of 5 StarsFor original review, please visit the Prism Book Alliance® blog online. When I picked up this story I was expecting a sexy piece of erotica about a man and his sex bot. After all, if I’d say I hadn’t thought about what it would be like to have sex with a robot I’d be lying. An interesting idea, indeed.I adored this story, even if it wasn’t exactly what I expected. This was more romance than erotica, in my mind. There were indeed some well-written sex scenes but the romance was front and center. It had more heart, more passion than I was expecting and that was a good thing.Eric is having trouble moving on from his last relationship so his friend gets him a sexbot. (How much would those things cost, I wonder?) However, even though Sloot is designed for Eric’s pleasure he refuses to hop right into bed with the android. In fact, Eric insists and getting to know Sloot before they screw around. Their relationship builds slowly and by the time they sleep together I was convinced of their love. Yes, I said love. Sloot may be only an android but he has a ton of heart.I felt for Sloot along with Eric when he described his previous owners and the things they did to him. The lengths that Eric goes to so he can protect Sloot is heartwarming and Sloot is genuinely touched by Eric’s actions.“You protected me, just like you said he would,” he murmured.I’m not saying this Shakespeare or anything but this was a pleasant short read.

Eric's friend Sabrina gets him a gift a year after a break up with his boyfriend. It's XP30, a sex android specifacaly made to pleasure humans. What he doesn't expect is for Stool, the XP30, to be so gorgeous. Eric learns more about Sloot's past as the two grow closer. But Sloot has been keeping a secret that could change everything. I loved how understanding Eric was even though when the secret is revealed he is shocked. Sloot seemed sweet and sincere throughout and protective of Eric. I loved that no matter who Sloot was that Eric stood up for him. I loved this book and am looking forward to reading the next in this series.

Can you have a second chance at a first love?

Nick Paine is just starting to return to normal after he told his wife he’s gay and asked for a divorce. Despite a daughter he loves dearly and a job he believes in, part of him is stuck in the past. He’s never forgotten the first love he let fade away fifteen years ago.

Adam "Izz" Azzi has settled into a happy rhythm. His daughter is healthy, he's found a mosque that accepts him, and his work as a modern artist is gaining international attention. While his past is fraught with mistakes and what-ifs, his life now is good, and he doesn't want to upset any of the balance he's worked so hard to achieve.

When Nick and Izz are reunited by luck and fate, their attraction is just as undeniable, but what was left unsaid haunts them. They have hope for a future together, but wishing may not be enough.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. ... fan of second chance romance especially when it does like this one here By UIBB ~I was given this book for an honest review~I must say that I am a huge fan of second chance romance especially when it does like this one here. I absolutely fell in love with Nick and Adam's story. I love everything about this book. This is one of those books that they start out as friends in school, neither one come and say the "L" word but its written all over their faces. Instead of just telling them face to face, one sends a email. 15 years have passed, both Nick and Adam have overcome some obstacles in their lives. Adam"s was on the extreme side dealing with drugs, alcohol and the death of his baby's mama. He is finally clean, feeling inspired with his art and taking care of his daughter. Things are finally looking good for him but he has never forgot about Nick. The feelings are still strong there. Nick, on the other hand, went to school and established himself at the hospital. He is recently divorced, taking care of his daughter and coming to terms with dating again. With the sneaky help of his friends, who I love so so much, get him and Adam together again. They have many things to discuss about the past before they can move forward. They soon realize they have a lot in common, including their daughters birthdays. When these two get together, they are so much stronger. They feed off each other so well that great things start happening but then the one thing they never thought would end their happy family, happens. They have to remain strong to battle through it, while one is feeling weak, the other one is there to build him up. I love how no matter how much time has passed, there's still so much passion between them and a level of respect. It's like nothing has ever changed between them. I so loved how much stronger each one of them were but they still were so weak when it came to their daughters. They have such a great support team with all their friends and families. I loved seeing that! There isn't one thing I would change about this book, everything happened for a reason and I loved every minute of their story including the times I was crying. I would so recommend this book to anyone who loves second chance romances!Reviewed by Amy

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. A must-read By Christy Duke 4.5 Stars ~ "I am going to wrap my arms around you, hold you, inhale your scent, breathe your very essence, and let it fill the hole inside me that has ached and bled for so very long." ~ CDA lot of things can happen in fifteen years. An entire lifetime can happen between the ages of eighteen and thirty-three. For Adam and Nick, that's exactly what occurred from when they last saw each other at their high school graduation and unexpectedly meeting again at Adam's gallery showing. A host of memories has gone by for each of them, but neither one ever stopped missing the love of their life."I told you I loved you and I never heard back from you,” Nick whispered, the words coming out choked. But if they were going to have any hope of rediscovering what they’d once had, then everything needed to be said. No matter how painful it was. He had to find the strength to rip them out of a past that would only attack them again and again if they didn’t face it now."I could so understand and appreciate Adam's perspective, however. As a recovering alcoholic and addict, who only got clean when he found out he had a brand-new daughter, the thought of getting lost in Nick, again and then losing him, is a terrifying prospect. My heart went out to Nick, also, who literally didn't figure out he was gay and still in love with Adam until his wife talked to him about having another child, and he all of a sudden realized he wanted all of the day-to-day stuff, but with Adam. Nick is so focused on everyone else's happiness he completely forgets to take the time to figure out what he wants. Whereas Adam, as an emotional artist, often forgets to learn what those he loves want. Two sides of a coin.I was incredibly impressed that the author didn't stick with the standard fare in this trope. Instead, she broadened it with some extremely heartfelt and very emotional drama, that reminded me of what family is truly all about. The writing was brilliant and evocative. The story was simple, but equally complex. Truly a must-read in my opinion.NOTE: This book was provided by Dreamspinner Press for the purpose of a review on Rainbow Book Reviews

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. A second chance story that was as intense and it was sweet. By Shirley Quinones 3.50 starsNick Paine spends much of his time working or with his daughter. Although he came out to his ex-wife and friends he has not given himself the chance to explore his possibilities. On one of his first outings he discovers that his childhood best friend and the man who has been haunting him through the years, lives close by and will soon be having a show at a gallery.Adam "Izz" Azzi is a talented artist who had made a name for himself. Adam is content on living his life dedicated to his art and his daughter. After recovering from an addiction that led to his losing a loved one, Adam is determined to continue to leave his demons behind. So having his unrequited love attending his show, is not only a surprise but a also a curve ball to the careful balance he's trying to achieve in his life. Nick was the one who got away, but now having him back in his life brings uncertainty and a whole other set of emotions he's not quite ready to deal with. Can you have a second chance at a first love? It seems you can, if this story is anything to go by.When I started this book, I was so looking forward for these two to be reunited. I knew there was going to be some drama since it was Nick who left and Adam who always felt left behind but, honestly, I was not prepared for the overwhelming amount of angst I found. If you know me, I like my angst and have read my fair share of angsty stories, but this one sort of left me numb. Why? I don't know. That is the same question I asked myself throughout. What I ultimately came up with was that there was quite a bit of unnecessary drama which in the end took away from the romance. But hey, that's just me.I do think that the author did a great job in bringing forth the uncertainties of reconnecting with a past love. She brought the range of emotions necessary for me to understand well where Adam and Nick were coming from and why they behaved and/or acted the way they did in the past and in the present time. My only regret in that aspect is that the connection between the two got lost along the way of it all. I felt like the connection was to be assumed, but that took a lot of effort on my part. Since these men had changed so much through the years, it was hard for me to reconcile what they once shared with what they were trying to recapture.Regardless, there was something there, which was what ultimately made me continue with the story. I enjoyed some their more candid interactions and heated moments they shared. It was during those moments that their connection made itself known, so of course those were the moments that stood out for me the most. This is the first book by SA McAuley I've read and it certainly won't be the last. Although the story dragged in places, I do feel that the story was well written and engaging enough for me to give this author another try. I particularly enjoyed the complexity of the characters and the range of emotions the author brought to the page. Always a win in any book I read. All in all, a second chance story that was as intense and it was sweet.

Guaranteed to keep the reader riveted to each chapter's no-holds-barred description of scandal, deception, sexual misconduct, misappropriation of funds, discrimination, and even death.  Destined to have a profound effect, the story is always powerful and keeps the reader turning the pages as it details and describes misuse of management in unimaginable and incomprehensible ways.

I believe that every working woman should read this book, and it should be required reading for the corporate woman. A very good example of trying to work within the system and the system just does not work -- not just once, but every time. Jackie had great courage to hang in there and to see it through -- to the end. Wonderful reading and I will read it again.

It is shocking that these types of things still happen in our world today. Jackie is a pillar of strength and sets a fine example of what true women today have to endure in the business world. She is an inspiration to those who need to fight back and change the system.

But at the turn of each page there was another over whelming incident. Soon, I was captured and held within its grasp unable to put it down until I'd read the entire book in one setting!

Accidental Rebels by Kelly Sinclair opens in the summer of 1989 in the small Texas town of Tantona, and Mandy and Hilario are sitting in a pickup counting the local homosexuals. They come up with five: two old ladies, the effeminate drama teacher, and themselves. They are overlooking Neil and Cat, happily married but not intimate, Sherron, unhappily married and intimate with everybody, Tina worried about her job but tired of being alone, Syd worried about anybody suspecting, not to mention Becca and Gracie; everybody tired of pretending and praying and trying not to notice each other. Cat precipitates the Great Tantona Coming Out of 1989 by putting together a band and taking her singing on the road, but things get out of hand when her friends gather round to support her gig in a gay bar in Lubbock. In the end, friends who have known them for years stop pretending, too. Funny and sad, romantic and sexual, Accidental Rebels has a unique, tangy flavor, like a really great barbecue sauce

This book delivers.I wish there were an option for 4 1/2 stars, because of course this book is not perfect. However, the interwoven plots of these complex people, the apparent chaos that coalesces into a rich and satisfying read well make up for the overwhelming cast. My guess is that Sinclair will take some of these smaller characters and continue with the story down the road. The main characters are well developed, with personalities as strong and intricate as their stories.I look forward to more from this author.

Especially fun if you grew up in small town America. Everyone thinks they know everyone's business, and they are sure they know what is good for you.

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Incredible By Ameliah Faith No one does anthologies as well as Lady Lit! Cheyenne Blue brings us the latest edition. There are fifteen stories in this tomb. Many of the authors I was familiar with but there were a few that are new to me. None of the stories are less than really good. These stories were beautifully written with good flow and interesting characters. The book ran me through a gauntlet of emotions. I laughed, cried and there were a whole lot of Awwww moments not to mention the sizzling sexy bits! I could not put this book down, it was so wonderful that I inhaled it as quickly as I could. I know I will be re-reading this book often! Below I will give you a glimpse at the stories. There was a surprise for me in the book. One of the stories was written by a man. I tend to avoid lesfic and especially erotica written by a man. I figure they can't possibly know what women feel and have no business writing about it. Besides everyone knows what guys think of two girls getting it on, right. I was not going to read it but Ms. Harper Bliss of Ladylit encouraged reassured me that it fit in and belonged in the book. I thought about it and remembered This IS a Ladylit production and they have never put out less than fantastic...Besides, don't I trust Harper and Cheyenne? Well, I begrudgingly admit that “The Talkies” did indeed belong here. Mr Edwards write with poise and tact, this is very tastefully story and it was just as good as the women. SO on that note I am very sorry Mr Edwards and Ms Bliss. Thank you for giving me MY first with this story.Roses and Thorns by Annabeth Leong – Ruth is a woman who needs to find her inner strength. This takes her to a boxing gym where she finds not just inner peace but outer as well. Her lover Arlene did not understand at first but when she does...WOW!The Opposite of Darkness by Harper Bliss - If there is one thing I can always count on it is Ms Bliss' ability to touch my heart in some way. This story is no different. This tale is romantic, seductive, intense and so sweet. Its a delight to all my senses. The Talkies by Jeremy Edwards – I loved the plot, two women in the 1920s – 30s (I'm guessing) one an actress about to do her first talking film and a reporter who admired her very much! There are great descriptions of things I never knew existed. This is very understated and coy and the sexy bits are better and more classy then I would have believed. Before the Bus Comes by Tasmin Flowers – After talking with her friends about death and regrets, Red decides that what she would regret is making love to a woman. Enter Lara and a hot sexy scene.Whole Again by Brenda Murphy – This is a wonderful sweet story about a cook who was injured in the war and a cute waitress who caught her eye. It is so beautiful!Pulling by Sachhi Green – Holy moly is this a HOT one!!! Ree is at the fair showing off her team of horses. Carla is working at one of the game booth. When they meet....um, yeah...definitely on of my favourites in the book! The First Peonies by Ivy Newman – Oh I do love this one. Holly is a loner who doesn't do relationships but when she sees Mira dancing in the bar, something inside her changes...this is beautiful and haunting. The details really make this story so precious.Repossession by Emily Byrne – This is the story of a newly single woman whose house is being foreclosed on and the banker who came to get the keys from her but manages to set her free in the process. That Summer by Vanessa De Sade – A tender coming of age story. Very poetic and sweetly descriptive. A great read.Amelia by Cheyenne Blue – Ms Blue is a magician with a pen. This is an enchanting tale of Amelia Earhart after she crashes and disappears. It is quite delicious and sensual!Ghost of She by Jillian Boyd – This is a great tale of a woman haunted by her first who abandoned her after many years together and the woman who wants to be her second chance. This is really, really good. The Sum of Our Parts by Andi Marquette – Another great tale by Ms Marquette. This is a tenderly written short with a pair of real women, (one a breast cancer survivor). they are not just characters on a page. Truly touching.Soar Spot by Allison Wonderland. This story was more sedate and serious than anything I've read by Ms Wonderland. It is the story of two women coming together after escaping from domestic violence. It is very well done.Sea by Rosie Bower – This is a unique narration about two very different women by the sea. It is truly inspired.Dissolving by Cela Winter – This is a great story about being able to let go and trust your partner. Its hot and sweet and real.Thank you so much for bringing these stories to me Ms. Blue!!

Well written.Roses and Thorns by Annabeth Leong was kinda HOT.The Opposite of Darkness by Harper Bliss was a good story, but I would have liked to read Erica's description of watching Lauren climaxing for the first time. The Talkies by Jeremy Edwards - I didn't really enjoy this story. The wording was just a bit too formal for me.Before the Bus Comes by Tamsin Flowers was VERY HOT!Whole Again by Brenda Murphy was a beautiful story.Pulling by Sacchi Green was a fun story. The First Peonies by Ivy Newman was a good story.Repossession by Emily L. Byrne was well written and a good story, but very sad. That Summer by Vanessa De Sade - I loved this story. I also love the quote from The Well of Loneliness "give us also the right to our existence!"Amelia by Cheyenne Blue - Mystery solved.. Well done.Ghost of She by Jillian Boyd was a wonderful story. The Sum Of Our Parts by Andi Marquette was an excellent story.Soar Spot by Alison Wonderland was okay.Sea by Rosie Bower was a good story.Dissolving by Cela Winter was a fun way to end the adventure of this anthology.Overall this was a wonderful anthology. I thoroughly enjoyed most of the stories and will be reading them again. I will be checking out the other works from several of the authors that I hadn't heard of before this anthology.

By Crazie Betty LOVED THIS ANTHOLOGY!Ladylit publishing is amazing and the authors that submit work for their anthologies are wonderful! I've learned about so many other authors I've enjoyed simply because of the anthologies Ladylit releases. I've given a very short review on each story below but just know that I enjoyed them ALL!Roses and Thorns by Annabeth Leong: This was one of my favorites of the anthology. I really enjoy boxing so this story was multi-faceted for me.The Opposite of Darkness by Harper Bliss: Oh my God! This story was so emotional right off the bat. With Harper's main character having lost her sight 7 years ago, she is just getting ready to have the bandages removed from a procedure that will give her sight again. And she'll see her partner for the first time EVER! Absolutely wonderful. The Talkies by Jeremy Edwards: Another favorite for me! Again, it's partially because of the subject. I just LOVE the idea of a silent actress trying to break into the talkies for the first time. Before the Bus Comes by Tamsin Flowers: This was such a hot story! Plus I loved the "twist" at the end. "Do you think we did it right?" LOL!Whole Again by Brenda Murphy: I did enjoy this story but it was more for the social aspects of it. The judging of other people because they're "different" and the realization of who you are and owning up to it, even in the face of adversity.Pulling by Sacchi Green: Yep, another favorite. I loved Green's description of the girl that is working the game booth and how all the guys are ogling over her, I couldn't help but smile and laugh a few times just because as the reader, we know she's interested in women. So seeing the boys get all huffy wondering why they aren't getting attention, is hilarious to me! I was highly entertained by this one!The First Peonies by Ivy Newman: I so felt for the main character in this one and was very happy with the way it ended. I wasn't as into this one as some of the others, but still quite good.Repossession by Emily L. Byrne: Honestly, not one of my favorites in this collection. It was very steamy and hot but I had a hard time with the seemingly manipulative nature of the banker. That Summer by Vanessa de Sade: Basically a short story version of a coming of age tale. Very good and very sensuous.Amelia by Cheyenne Blue: SHOUT OUT TO CHEYENNE! This story was my absolute favorite in the entire collection! I absolutely loved that she took famous woman and pilot, Amelia Earhart, and put her destiny into the hands of the unknown. I'm going to forever pretend that this is actually what happened to her because, honestly, just breath taking and so wonderful! I probably could've read a full length novel of this one.Ghost of She by Jillian Boyd: This one was kind of sad for the most part and not until the end do we feel a glimmer of hope. Granted, all of us will understand the MC's plight as we've all gone through painful, haunting, break-ups.The Sum of Our Parts by Andi Marquette: Another absolutely beautiful story! So full of emotions and sensuality. I think it's great to see MCs who aren't the "typical" version of the hot woman everyone is after. This is so real and so well done.Soar Spot by Allison Wonderland: I love Allison Wonderland but this story was one of least favorites of the anthology. Not that it wasn't wonderful! (heh heh, I made a pun) but it just didn't quite hold up to the intensity of some of the other stories.Sea by Rosie Bower: This was another good story but I couldn't help myself from wondering if the other woman was actually some siren trying to get the MC to plunge to her icy death in the sea! That wasn't the case, lol! And turned out to be quite the erotic scene, and an almost hazy fantasy dream world kind of story.Dissolving by Cela Winter: I thoroughly enjoyed this story of powerful top learning how to let go and be a bottom for once. Very entertaining!**ARC provided by publisher in exchange for my honest review.**
