W/o giving the book away, it was about the process a book goes through b/4 it's published. And one of the steps is editing the manuscript. Whoever did this job on this book should be fired. There were more misspelled, misquoted, lack of syntax and just plain glaring word associations than a six grade essay. I am really disappointed in this book. The storyline was great, but the glaring errors took your mind away from what the author was trying to say. Keith, fire your editing team.

Book five in the Southern Charm series

Can a sheriff untangle the mysteries invading his town and those which surround the local IT geek who’s captured his attention?

Sheriff Robin Burke is pissed off. His quiet seaside town is troubled with all kinds of problems. Looking for the man who tried to poison Samuel Ashford is high on his priority list, but there is more in store. When someone he crushes on returns, he hopes to ignite his non-existent love life.

Returning from London, Beau Courtenay discovers his home has been invaded by his troubled half-brother. Dealing with the chaos, he is busy with a massive backlog of work and renovating the entire Southern Charm system. He finds another troubling detail in the form of random USB interfaces around Shore Breeze that don’t belong there. And there’s also the allure of the sheriff distracting him and threatening to reveal his darkest secret.

What will happen when Robin connects his suspect to the handsome IT geek with the delicious British accent and tight ass? Can Beau help the sheriff follow the law to prosecute anyone who dares to attack their beloved town?

The Southern Charm series

Southern Charm—a series of books set in the town of Shore Breeze on the Florida Panhandle Coast at the edge of the Fairview Peninsula. The Charm is an antebellum B&B with a popular restaurant, Southern Delights. Though the Charm survived a hundred years, the last ten have been difficult on its survival—hurricanes, oil spills, and the economy. These are the stories of the men who live within and venture to the Charm to help save her and each other.

About Nicole Dennis

Ever the quiet one growing up, Nicole Dennis often slid away from reality and curled up with a book to slip into the worlds of her favorite authors. Over the years, she’s created a personal library full of novels filled with dragons, fairies, vampires, shapeshifters of all kinds and romance. Always she returned to romance. Still, there were these characters in her head, worlds wanting to be built on paper, and stories wanting to be told and she began writing them down whether during or after class. She continues to this day. Only recently has it begun to become fruitful, spreading out to let others read and enter her worlds, meet her characters, and see what she sees. No matter what she writes, her stories of romance with their twists of paranormal, fantasy and erotica will always have their Happily Ever Afters.

She currently works in a quiet office in Central Florida, where she also makes her home, and enjoys the down time to slip into her characters and worlds to escape reality from time to time. At home, she becomes human slave to a semi-demonic tortie calico.

By Becky C Are you ready for an asexual character who falls in love with the person, not the sex? Oh, there is sex in the book. Hot as it can be, and called the Big O, but it’s not what you may have come to expect from a gay romance novel. But if the intense sex scenes don’t get your motor running I don’t know what will. Got you curious? Get the book.I really admire Nicole Dennis for taking on this unconventional twist on the romance novel. There’s also a potential murderer with an unconventional MO. This book is different and done beautifully. Slotted into a well loved series it fits and is as enjoyable as the rest of the series and characters.Robin is the sheriff of a small coastal Florida town and trying to solve a series of crimes. Who is trying to kill one of the owners of the B&B with, of all things, food? And why? And who is stealthily stealing money from the local businesses? And how?During his investigations Robin deepens his interest in the local (but very British) IT guy, Beau. Beau has problems of his own, including a half brother who is more barnacle than relative and very difficult to extract from Beau’s home and life. Other than this problem, Beau assumes he is so different from what another man would want in a partner that there is no point in pursuing anything with anyone. Can Robin prove him wrong? And together can they solve the bizarre crimes that Robin is faced with? Are these crimes related? How will they affect Beau?I loved this unusual romance novel and could not put it down until I finished it. I love Ms. Dennis’ style of writing but this shows her versatility in both character development and plot sequencing. I highly recommend “Following the Law”.

More mystery, but still sweet By avid reader Following the Law (Southern Charm #5) by Nicole Dennis4 starsM/M Romance, mysteryTrigger: Abusive familyI was given this book for an honest review by Inked Rainbow Reads.Robin Burke has had a secret crush on the town IT man for a while, but when tragedy strikes, Beau Courtenay has to return to London to care for his ailing father. Burke doesn't lose hope, nor does he allow whomever is wreaking havoc on his town to get away with it.I enjoyed this story quite a bit. While it was not chalked full of the chemistry or angst that some of the previous stories were, these characters were given a different dynamic.I enjoyed the banter that went back and forth between Beau and Robin. I thought that it added a good dynamic - they courted. And, even though it was sometimes awkward, it was always playful and sweet.I liked that since you knew both characters from previous stories, you got to see them in their "own lives" rather than only through the eyes of their relationship. Both were aware of each other, but both also had their own lives to live. However, given that you knew them from previous stories, it felt that Dennis focused more on the mystery than the relationship aspect of this story. The "sex" between Robin and Beau was dynamic, but not altogether that explosive. I felt that since Beau liked to cuddle and things of that nature that there might have been more in the story, so I was slightly disappointed in that.Overall, this was a well thought out story, but less romance and more mystery.

Series keeps getting better By Crystal's Many Reviewers I’ve enjoyed Dennis’ writing, and this series, so when the opportunity came up to review this book, I very quickly jumped on it.Right off the bat, I do want to say that I loved how Dennis worked the fact that Beau is asexual into the story. To be honest, when I first realized that, I almost stopped reading the book because I’ve never read a book about an asexual character before, but I’m glad to say that I am so happy that I kept reading the book! The fact that Beau is asexual is a big thing because it does carry a lot of weight throughout the book. It was great to see how Robin was willing to research and learn more about what being asexual means, and what it is like being a partner to an asexual person. But the best part about this whole thing is that Beau didn’t change himself at all to be with Robin. Which I loved that Dennis did that – because it shows that you can find someone to love you even if you are different. The suspense from the other books in the series does carry over to this one. Dennis does a great job at keeping the interest and drama going and kept me turning the pages. It was also very fun to catch up with the other characters in previous books. I will say this though – this book does have a bit of a back track/repeats of the previous books. But in this book we get to see things from Beau and Robin’s POV’s which is also fun to do.Overall, I really loved this story and I can’t wait to read more into the series in the future!Reviewed by Crystal Marie for Crystal’s Many Reviewers*Copy provided for review*

19 of 20 people found the following review helpful. A slow, sweet seduction By Charly T. Anchor Warning: This review might contain what some people consider SPOILERS.Rating: 9/10PROS:- The way in which Jack slowly opens up to Will's hints and advances is beautifully done. I know a man who didn't face his homosexuality until he was in his 50s whose awakening proceeded in almost exactly the same way as Jack's does in this book.- Good examination of the internal uncertainty on the part of both characters; Will thinks Jack will decide he's straight (or at least that he doesn't want to explore whether or not he's really gay), and Jack thinks that Will's just looking for another notch on his belt. Of course, we readers have the benefit of witnessing their blossoming I-don't-trust-this-but-I-can't-help-falling-for-him-anyway feelings also.- The buildup of feelings and desire on the way to the characters' first sexual encounter is very well done. Each scene is a bit more erotic and a bit less tentative than the last. And I LOVE how patient Will is with Jack's hesitance and inexperience.- The sex, when we finally get to it (not a complaint; I love the slow speed at which physical intimacy escalates), is sensual and explosive and delightful. And there's a kissing scene that's almost as hot as any of the sex scenes.- Jack's sons are realistically portrayed and add a nice amount of gravity.- Far fewer typos and editing issues in this than in many other m/m books I've read.CON:- Premise that's a stretch to believe. The difference in age is significant--14 years--as is the difference in lifestyle, education, and emotional background. But I must say, I loved the characters so much that after a few chapters, I happily allowed myself to dismiss any misgivings about the story idea.Overall comments: If you're looking for erotica, this might not be a good choice for you; there's sexual tension throughout the book, but it doesn't really contain that much sex (as compared to most other m/m romances I've read). But if you enjoy reading about the emotional connection between two men with an occasional hot sex scene thrown in here and there, this is a lovely read.

11 of 12 people found the following review helpful. Good writing, emo story. By Tom Not a bad book, I guess, but the relationship between Will and Jack progresses along very predictable lines and then devolves into a mega-helping of pure emo: lots of angst, introspection, and melodrama. The confrontation with Jack's sons just had me laughing -- and not in a good way. I couldn't help thinking that this kind of situation would only play out like this in the movies (and formulaic romance novels, apparently). The novel's beginning held my interest but, as often happens in romances of this type, the story started careening out of control about halfway through, like a car rolling down a mountain road with the brakes failing. Jack's constant and brooding ruminations read more like the entries in a love-sick schoolgirl's diary than the real thoughts of a 44-year-old working-class man coming to grips with being attracted to another man.As for Will, he describes himself at one point as a "Drama Queen"; I couldn't describe him any better myself. By book's end I was ready to see the last of Will. He was, in my opinion, "a mile wide and an inch deep", personality-wise. Jack was the more interesting character of the two and deserved someone better, deeper. There was potential for an interesting, credible story in "Handyman", but it just wasn't happening for me.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. excellent gay romance By Darren's boy I really enjoyed this book. I am a sucker for a good romance novel, and have to say this is the best one I have read. Too many gay novels focus on sex and lack substance, however, I found this novel to have character and heart. I couldn't put the book down and finished it in a few hours. It is very easy to read and doesn't require much thought- which is exactly what I look for in a book. The characters were needy and always questioning the others intentions- but for me this is perfect! The same thoughts and have raced through my own head many times when I am in a relationship, but once you build trust, they seem to melt away.
