Brian, a petite werewolf, is rejected by his family and pack because he is gay and now he is being rejected by his "straight" hunk mate. But at last what a disappointment! Marcus' rejection is quickly and easily resolved and the two guys are immediately having sex. Constant sex which I end up skipping as there is nothing new or sensual to it and really just the usual. As for the story line it is typical. But I do like the last part when Brian has to fight for his mate. Also I love the pairing of a petite guy with a hunk, which is the case here. And Brian proved himself to be pretty fiesty at the end. On the other hand Marcus could have been more "hunk". Since the title has "Holland Brothers" attached this is of course a family of gay werewolves brothers and I guess the sequels will have each of them finding his mate. And it does end telling us so. This apparently is the writer's first release and it does held promises. I will pick up the next one in the series just to give it another chance and hope the writer could improve on the plot and emotions and not just straight jumping into the sack.And I just do not understand why this is doing so well in the gay and lesbian list because Unexpected Mate is certainly lacking and does not have much going for it. Maybe just a very easy read.

At first I thought it would be one of those straight guy turn gay stories, but it is not. It's really a story about Marcus finding out who he is, and finally accepting it.Brian at the beginning broke my heart, he lost everything and then Marcus treated him like crap. I love that they made Brian strong, despite being smaller than Marcus and the other brothers. He proved that size does not always mean you are the best.This story does have a lot of sex in it, I will not lie but it kind of blends in well with it. Much like with other stories mates need one another, and that means they are aroused easily by their mates. And the fact they are newly mated means they want each other just a little more. Plus it brought in a really funny scene with the brothers.

Thank YOU so much guys. I really, really, really needed a shifter story tonight and since everyone wholeheartedly raved about the 'Holland Brothers' series I decided tonight was the night to begin 'Unexpected Mate'.I loved Brian from the moment he appeared on the page. Everything about him appealed to me, and this was before I discovered what a sarcastic, snarky mouth he could have. Once I heard that, I was over the moon! His parents and his former pack just pissed me the hell off, but I wasn't too happy with Marcus in the beginning, either. I could understand Marcus' feelings. His three brothers are gay and Marcus is the only one who can provide cubs and Marcus really wants a family. But, to turn away from beautiful Brian. Argh!I was very happy to see Marcus come to his senses, BUT, I was happier to see Brian NOT do the immediate forgive & forget. Instead, they did a little dating before Marcus claimed Brian and took him home to the gigantic house Marcus and his brothers share. Now, if only, Marcus' ex-girlfriend (hoebag) would get a clue. HA!I adored this first book in the series and now I'm running off to read the next installment!
